Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary

For the protection of wild life animals Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary was formed in the year 1943 in Alipurduar Sub-Division of Jalpaiguri. Single Horned Rhinos is the specialty of the place. River Torsha has bisected the forest sanctuary. The sanctuary is mostly covered with tall grasses, which is favorite of rhinos. The Royal Bengal Tigers are another attraction of the place. Other available animals are elephants, deer, hog deer, wild pigs, bison including various number of birds, etc. It is said to be paradise for bird watchers. Rare birds like Bengal Florican, hornbill, drongo, etc. are sighted here.

Thrilling elephant safari is organized from Holong in the early morning to explore the beauty of the vast grassland of Jaldapara. The elephant ride is the best way to roam around the sanctuary. Jeep safari also organized inside the sanctuary.
